Types of Events

SYC hosts four major events per year - a spring turkey hunt, a fall deer hunt, and two fundraising events. The hunting events are 3-day weekends filled with hunting, fellowship, and devotions. The two fundraisers have fun activities for the whole family.

Hunts

​

All of our turkey and deer hunts are fully guided and offer the youth themselves the opportunity to hunt. Each hunter is assigned two guides. All blinds are accesible and all firearms are tailored to the special needs of the youth, including a seperate screen for scope use and a double trigger system for the guide and the hunter.

Each hunt takes place on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They will first meet on Friday to sight-in their gun and ensure the hunter is familiar with the equipent. This is followed by a full dinner banquet that night where hunter's are recognized, and new hunters are given their bible and camo. The actual hunt starts early Saturday morning. We meet for lunch and return again for the evening hunt. Sunday morning is our last hunt followed by a special lunchtime filled with sharing and encouragement. Meal times will include a guest speaker with an inspiring message for all.

A typical weekend hunt agenda will look something like this. Times may vary slightly for each hunt.

Friday

• 3:00-5:30pm Sight-in and equipment orientation

• 5:30-6:30pm Check-in to hotel

• 6:30-8:30pm Dinner program at church

• 8:30-9:00pm Guide meetings at church

• 10:00pm Lights out

Saturday

• 4:45-5:15am Breakfast at hotel

• 5:30am Leave hotel for hunting blinds

• 5:45-10:30am Hunt

• 11:00-1:00pm Lunch and devotions at the church

• 1:00pm Group photo at the church

• 1:00-3:00pm Fellowship and free time at church/hotel

• 3:00pm Leave hotel for hunting blinds

• 3:30-7:00pm Hunt

• 7:30-9:00pm Dinner and fellowship at the church

• 10:00pm Lights out

Sunday

• 4:45-5:15am Breakfast at hotel

• 5:30am Leave hotel for hunting blinds

• 5:45-10:30am Hunt

• 10:30-11:00am Check-out of hotel

• 11:00-1:00pm Lunch, devotions, sharing time, and closing at hotel

• 1:00-2pm Tear down and load up blinds

Fundraisers

 

Our summer "FUNraiser" is our main outdoor sporting event to raise money and has activities for the whole family. Typical activities include fishing, youth archery, etc. Our dinner program includes delicious BBQ dinner and a wide range of exciting silent and live auction items.

 

Our "Breaking Clays" event provides a time for family, volunteers, and friends to enjoy skeet and range shooting. Activities can include sporting stands, 5-stand, quail shoots, and competitive quail shoots. We also have a .22 range manned by experienced volunteers.
